Pretreatment of Loblolly Pine Tree Needles Using Deep Eutectic Solvents

Deep eutectic solvents (DES) are new ‘green’ that have a high potential for biomass processing because of their low cost, toxicity, biodegradability, and easy recycling. When Loblolly pine trees harvested, branches with needles typically left in brush piles decompose very slowly. Exploring the effect DES pretreatment on waste was goal present work. were treated three types to prepare enzymatic hydrolysis glucose, subject not readily found literature. The resulting products analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, fiber analysis, high-performance liquid chromatography. Glucose yields after be six times untreated two DES. Fiber analysis indicated removal lignin, hemicellulose, ash from needle biomass. Enhanced glucose yield due lignin disruption structure during pretreatment, so pretreated rich cellulosic content. Based results shown this study, among DES, formic acid:choline chloride acetic had better compared lactic chloride.
